Our Spiritual Foundation

Our Spiritual Foundation

Our Christian life is a growing life. It doesn't stop where we started. As the tree needs water, air, minerals, sun etc to grow and as our physical body needs to grow so do our spiritual life needs to grow and grow healthy.
Here are some outlines I have written that focuses on some ingredients that helps us to grow in our faith.
This is only an outline. You can develop it further, use it and share it for your ministries.

1) Word of God John 1:1
Also called as Bible

B–Behold-----                   Basic
I– I-----------           Information
B–bring-----            Before
L– life----                Leaving
E–eternal---            Earth

Here I want to add Seven Crowning Wonders of the Bible by, Rev. Dyson Hague

1. The wonder of its formation; one book written in one place in one language, another book written in another country centuries later in another language.
2. The wonder of its unification; it is a library of 66 books, yet only one book, for it has but one author, the Holy Spirit. There are no contradictions.
3. The wonder of its age; it is the most ancient of all books.
4. The wonder of its sale; it is the best seller of all time.
5. The wonder of its interest; it is the only book that is read by all classes, and ages of mankind. It is read by sages and children; read by all nations.
6. The wonder of its language; it was written largely by uneducated men, yet it is considered a literary masterpiece.
7. The wonder of its preservation; it has been the most hated of all books. Time and again kings and governments have sought to burn and abolish it. Yet God has preserved it for us today and it can be found in almost every home.

STANDING IN THE GAP

A MAN TO STAND IN THE GAP.

Ezek: 22:30, 31.

The whole Bible, every book, every chapter and every verse talks about someone who stood in the gap between Holy God and sinful man. That is Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He paid the price for standing in the gap, dying in place of sinners and making a way for reconciliation and salvation. Through out history God is seeking men and women who will stand in the gap (2 Chron: 16:9, 1 Sam: 16:7, Matt: 9:37-39).In the Gap between Sinners and God, between backsliders and God, between a nation and God, between a family and God, between ethnic tribe and God.  Look at some examples:-

1: Abraham- Gen: 18:23-34. In the gap for his cousin LOT.
2: Moses- Exod: 32:32 Psalm: 106: 23. In the gap for the nation of Israel.
3: Nehemiah – Neh: 1, 2. in the gap for the city of Jerusalem.
4: Esther –Esther 4: 13, 14. In the gap for the Hebrews.
5: Paul. Rom: 9:1-3, 10:1-3.  In the gap for the Jews.

Samuel, Gideon, John Welsh, Hudson Taylor, William Carey and Adoniram Judson are just few of the many examples of men standing in the gap. Thank God for the early missionaries that stood in gap that we may be saved. God is expecting you and me to stand in the gap.

Motivations for Serving The LORD!!!

                               MOTIVATIONS FOR SERVING THE LORD.

Apostle Paul had many temptations to quit from the ministry of the Lord. But in 2nd Corinthians chapter 5, in the 21 verses, we see a few facts that kept him going on in the ministry.

1: STEWARDSHIP OF HIS BODY: (vv: 1-8).

Paul reminded himself that his body is given to him by the Lord. He realized that his duty is to use his body for serving the Lord alone. Paul had many groans while in his body. He was not a healthy man. Opinions and conclusions differ among Bible Scholars. Some say that he had fits of epilepsy, some say that he had malarial attacks, some say that he had eye problem and yet others say that he had a chronic stomach problem. Whatever the case, Paul wanted to leave this body and be present with Christ.

But Paul opted to live in the world as long as god wanted him to serve. He realized that his body is given to him by God to serve and suffer for Christ and His Church. (Phil: 1:19-26). It is good for us to remind ourselves of the fact that God has given us healthy bodies to employ it for Gospel Travels, hunger, thirst, sacrifices, pain and sufferings for the sake of Christ. It is good each morning to pause for a moment to thank God for giving you a body, a healthy body while many are blind, deaf, dump and lame.

Like my dad who is now 90 years old longs to pack his box and travel for the Lord, we all will come to stage when we are not able to do for God what we desire to do. Therefore dear brethren, let us recognize the fact that we are not the owners of our bodies, but we are just the managers, the keepers, the stewards. Let us remind ourselves of the truth that we have to give an account of what we have done with our bodies while in this world. Whether we eat or drink or do anything, let it be for the glory of the Lord.

2: PLEASURE OF OUR GOD (VV: 8, 9).

In all what Paul did, he sought to please God. What is the pleasure of our God?  Salvation of souls!! There is great joy in heaven when people are saved from hell fire to enter into His kingdom.  The thing that pleases our God is soul winning. The Lord declared that He was well pleased when His Son, Jesus Christ yielded to baptism in the river Jordan, signifying his readiness to die on the cross for the salvation of souls.

Whatever we do, dear brother be for pulling precious souls from the lake of fire.  May you never slow down? May you never quit? Go soul winning till the end of your life in this world? Paul is one of our great examples.

3:  REWARD AT HIS COMING: (v: 10).

It is exciting beyond measure when we think of the Judgment seat of Christ at the Rapture that we are going to be abundantly rewarded by our Master for all the services we have done for Him.  True, even when we are in this world God will reward us for our faithful service. We will see harvests. We will see souls saved. That is greater satisfaction than accumulating millions in the Bank, which are perishable.  When we see our Jesus face to face, He will remember even a cup of water we have given out in His name.  Let us increase our treasure in Heaven, dear servant of God.

4:  TORMENTS OF HELL. (V: 11)

Apostle Paul had always the heart breaking realization of the eternal torment of sinners in the lake of fire, called hell. His heart did always pump shouting to him, “pull them out, and stop them, save them”.  Anybody who believes the reality of hell will persevere to pull precious souls from that terrible and eternal agony of the bottomless pit. Anyone who is convinced of the Biblical teaching on the eternal darkness for sinners will keep preaching on Hell and judgment.

There are many liberals who do believe in literal hell. Such people may keep preaching a social gospel or the love of Christ on the cross, without mentioning the fact of hell in their declaration. Because of that thousands are declared saved and big statistics appear in the news, of many conversions. But they were never scared of hell and judgment. They never repented of their sin. They do have an intellectual assent to the Gospel. But they are not born again. Their lives are not changed. These are nominal Christians that are on their way to hell. As preachers, dear brothers, let us not increase the number of such counterfeit Christians. Let us keep preaching on Judgment and Hell and then plead with them to escape to the cross of Calvary.

5: THE LOVE OF CHRIST (V: 14).

The love of Christ is the strongest factor that keeps us in the mission fields. It is not our love for Christ, though we must have that love to Him. But our love can be up and down, fluctuating all the time. But the fact that compels us to go on serving, suffering and witnessing is the Love of Christ towards us- His love that is manifested on the cross, His unfailing love, His everlasting love. Nothing could stop Him from the cross because He loved us before we were born, before man was created, before the world began, yes, from eternity. He is the lamb that was slaughtered even before the foundation of the world.

When we think of His low, how can we stop loving Him? How can we stop serving Him? When ever you get discouraged, when ever you get spiritually lukewarm , when ever you have a desire for comfort zones and materialism, please think of  Golgotha, please meditate on the Cross m please visualize the crucifixion . Vision of the Cross, that is it dear preacher friend.

6: THE LORDSHIP OF CHRIST. V: 15 cf: Rom: 14:7-9.
The death of Christ demands that we should welcome Him as the Lord in our hearts, in our lives, in our homes, in our Church, in our community and in our Nation.
“Sanctify (set apart) God, as the Lord of our heart” 1 Pet: 3:15
“No one can say Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit” 1 Cor: 12:3
Jehovah Witness people are not true Christians because they do not accept Jesus as the Lord. That means they do not have the Holy Spirit dwelling in them!!
“Do you love me more than these?” is the penetrating question from Jesus to us. John: 21:15.  He Demands to be our Lord.
He deserves to be our Lord.
He desires to be our Lord.
                     Bible Declares His Lordship.
                     Jesus Demonstrated His Lordship.

7: THE TRANSFORMATION OF LIVES. V: 17
When Christ comes in, a metamorphosis takes place and sinners are made saints. Infidels become God worshippers. Atheists become theists. Cannibals are turned to be kind hearted people with love for others. Head hunters become humanitarians. Drunkards, Murderers, Robbers and Criminals are changed into a new creation in Christ. They become Children of God. This is because of the dynamic power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is more powerful than any law or power on earth. Rom: 1:16. It is exciting to preach this Gospel to the ends of the earth. Children of this world become children of God. Children of Satan become Children of God. Children of Hell become children of Heaven.

8: OUR COMMISSION FROM GOD: vv: 18-21.
We are appointed by God as Ambassadors. This is the highest vocation because this commission is from God. The ministry is great because the message we have is the message of reconciliation. Reconciliation between God and Man and also peace between men. Because of sin and rebellion man has become the enemy of God. As a result we got the curse from God. So the whole world is in sin, pain, curse and death. The whole world is at war with God and also between men. Gospel of Christ is the only solution. That alone brings peace on earth.

These are sufficient reasons for me to be the Herald of the Gospel. This is the best commodity I can distribute to the world. This Gospel is incomparable.  These facts motivate me to continue witnessing and soul winning. These facts persuade me to be a Church Planter and face all sufferings, ridicule, reproach and death. I thank my God for calling me to this glorious ministry, as an Evangelist.

DAILY BREAD WELCOME TO DAILY BIBLE SERMON
July 17 Friday, 2015. "HE WILL CARRY YOU" "And even to your old age.....will I carry you....." (Isaiah- 46:4)
This verse give consolation especially to those who catch up with tears to those who catch up with years in their life. When God calls someone to be his own, He will take care of them till the end of their life.
God called Moses and made him a leader and a prophet to the children of Israel
and God was with him even when he was old.
The Bible says even at the age of 120 his eyes were not dim nor his natural forces abated.
Such is the love of God for his elect who walk according to his ways and please him always.
You who are holy, do not be afraid for the Lord who called you will carry you even to your old age. He says it is he that will carry you. He does not say He will give the responsibility of carrying you to his angles but he says he will carry you. The word continues to say even if your hairs became gray, he will carry you. Understanding the depths of God's love for you, will you be able to say that? Examine and see if you are worthy for God to say this to you? Moses was a worthy man. The Bible says there arose not a prophet since in Israel like Moses whom God knew face to face. See that you belong to him.

Prayer: Thank you Lord Jesus for the assurance you have given me. Amen. Bear Christ in youth. He will carry you when you are old.

What should Parents and Church learn about Children ?

What should every Parents and Church learn about Children ?

Children Fellowship of
New Horizons Christian Fellowship-Damak, Nepal

Matthew 19:13-15(NLT)
13 One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could lay his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him.
14 But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” 15 And he placed his hands on their heads and blessed them before he left.

People say that Children are the pillars of future. It's a very common saying. But is that really true??
That saying implies that the children are not very important now(present) but in the future they could be....
What a careless saying is this. Actually we forget that the children are as important as now, today as they will be tomorrow.

Jesus is our best example to follow in seeing the importance of children as He did.

Here is the lesson for both parents and to the church.

1. Parents: Bring your kids to Jesus
..One day some parents brought their children to Jesus....

This is what every parents should do or think about their children to draw them towards Jesus. Jesus is not an enemy to children. He is not a risk either to children. But He wants to bless kids, he wants to carry them on his lap. That's the kind of God Jesus is.
But sadly many parents today do not think this important. They think bringing children to Jesus is a waste of time, waste of child's future etc.
Even some parent's think that it's not still their age to know about Jesus. Let them play, let them sleep, let them grow.
But who knows what tomorrow will bring? If that child dies unfortunately than the time is wasted indeed eternally.

So my suggestions to every parents is that: Bring their kids to Jesus.

2. Church: Open the door for Kids

Jesus' disciples (grown up man) stopped children from coming nearer to Him. In one way they were showing their duties to their Master. But on the other hand they forgot what is Master's heart like. Master's heart is for the little ones. When the parents were bringing their kids to him for the blessings the disciples stood in between and stopped the kids. They might have thought the kids would be a disturbing to Jesus. Or, the kids will make Him dirty by touching and playing around Him. And they 'Rebuked' the children.
But their Master 'Rebuked' them. Watch it He rebuked them in front of the Children. Isn't it humiliating to be rebuked before small kids?

We should not be the one the stumbling block for people to come to Jesus. Instead we need to be a stepping stone for them. Specially for children I believe the Church needs to pay their full attention towards them.

We hear about so many activities, so many ministries centered around adults and women, and youths. But few only for the Children Fellowships. People have an idea specially in Nepal most churches think that Sunday School is a place to keep children busy and not make noises while the worship service of the congregation is going on.

So finally both the parents and church needs to play a vital role in introducing every children to Jesus. Bring them nearer to Jesus and not rebuking.
May God bless you all through this thoughts. Amen.

"Why God does everything!"

Why God Does Everything!

Why does God do what He does? I was greatly helped in understanding this question by something Dr. J. I. Packer wrote in his book Hot Tub Religion. He said: “The only answer that the Bible gives to questions that begin: “Why did God do this or that is for His own glory.”
Everything God does is for His own glory.  Everything God permits is for His own glory. Everything God pursues is for His praise through Jesus Christ” (1 Pet. 4:11, “… in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen”).
From beginning to end nothing in the Bible is more ultimate in the mind and heart of God than the glory of God — the beauty of God, and the radiance of his manifold perfections. At every point in God’s revealed action, wherever he makes plain the ultimate goal of that action, the goal is always the same: to uphold and display his glory.
Why did God create and redeem a people who would be called by His name? He did it for His own glory (Isaiah 43:7, “everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”).
Why did God raise up Pharaoh and harden his heart? He did it to make known His glory (Exodus 14:4, “And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will pursue them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host …”Exodus 14:18, “And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten glory over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.”).
§  He predestined us for his glory (Ephesians 1:6).
§  He  created us for his glory (Isaiah 43:7).
§  He elected Israel for his glory (Jeremiah 13:11).
§  He saved his people from Egypt for his glory  (Psalm 106:8).
§  He rescued them from exile for his glory (Isaiah 48:9-11).
§  He sent Christ into the world so that Gentiles would praise God for his glory (Romans 15:9).
§  He commands his people, whether they eat or drink, to do all things for his glory (1 Corinthians 10:31).
§  He will send Jesus a second time so that all the redeemed will marvel at his glory (2 Thessalonians 1:9-10).
Therefore the mission of the church is to, “Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all peoples” (Psalm 96:3).
The Hebrew word for “glory” means “that which is heavy or weighty.” When used figuratively, it refers to God’s intense, profound presence, his sheer “weight.” By contrast, David Wells says that God is regarded by many modern Christians as “weightless.” We must rediscover God’s glory.
Sam Storms gives a simple, but profound definition of the glory of God: “Glory is the beauty of God unveiled! Glory is the resplendent radiance of His power and His personality. Glory is all of God that makes God, God, and shows Him to be worthy of our praise and our boasting and our trust and our hope and our confidence and our joy! Glory is the external elegance of the internal excellencies of God. Glory is what you see and experience and feel when God goes public with His beauty!”
Like a diamond, the glory of God is a treasure with many facets. God’s glory is too active to fall into a simplified man-made compartmentalization of the subject. Indeed, we see in the Scriptures that this glory is very active and diversified. It comes (Isa 60:13; Ezek 43:2, 4; Micah 1:15), departs (1 Sam 4:21–22; Hosea 10:5), passes (Exodus 33:22) goes down (Ps 49:18), goes up (Ezek 11:23), goes out (Ezek 10:18), arouses oneself (Ps 57:9), arises (Ezek 3:12; 10:4), flies away (Hosea 9:11), stands (Ezek 3:23; 10:18), dwells (Ps 85:10), sends (Zach 2:12), shines (Isa 60:1), fills (Exodus 40:34,35; 1 Kings 8:11; 2 Chr 5:14), rejoices (Ps 16:9) and sings praise (Ps 30:13).
The glory of God is overwhelming. God is not like the dumb idols. The “comfort” found in false religions is that somehow the deity needs me. Their deities must be brought his food, moved into position, dusted, and repaired. But the glory of God declares that the living God does not need us. Sinful men must stagger back, painfully conscious that God is self-sufficient and we are completely unessential. The biblical terminology for glory has two aspects.  One is the renown God deserves because of the weightiness of his reputation.  The other is radiant and resplendent light.
God’s glory is the perfect harmony of all his attributes into one infinitely beautiful being. The glory of God summarizes the seriousness, the perfection, and the infinite significance of all of the attributes of God. It sums up who He is, in the awesome brightness and weightiness of all His perfections. What does it mean then for us to glorify God? We cannot add to His glory, for He is already perfectly and infinitely glorious. Rather, for us to glorify God means for us to ascribe the glory that is due His Name in worship. It means that we acknowledge His glory by living as though His perfections are as serious and significant as they really are, so that we reflect His glory through a pure mirror. It means that nothing horrifies us more than the thought of bringing dishonor to His glorious Name, and nothing delights us more than to feel His pleasure as we live to the praise of His glory. It also means that we declare His glory among the nations, inviting others to join us in our love affair with His glorious perfection. Glorifying God thus consumes and defines every aspect of our life and witness as well as our worship.
In James 2:1 the Lord Jesus is referred to as, “the Lord of glory. Some translations smooth out the passage to read: “our glorious Lord Jesus Christ,” or “Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory.” But what James actually wrote was “our Lord, Jesus Christ, the Glory.” James is stressing an important fact when he calls Jesus “the Glory.” When the Bible speaks of glory, the word usually refers to a cloud of radiance — light, color, and sound– that appeared from time to time in the Old Testament, the shekinah glory. Those allowed to see into this cloud, as in Ezekiel 1, saw within a myriad of shining angels surrounding the throne of God. This company manifests the glory of the shining Being at the center. That Figure, seated on a throne, is the source of glory, the source of light reflected and refracted through the angels. He is Glory Personified. James, writing from a Jewish perspective to Jewish converts, wants his readers to see that Jesus and the Shekinah Glory of the Old Testament are the same.
Christ is the incarnation of God’s glory (John 1:14), and it is the vision of this glory in the new heavens and earth for which we all hope. When Jesus walked the earth, this glory was usually hidden from plain view and only visible for brief moments to a select few of His disciples (Luke 9:28–36). But all who love and serve the Messiah will one day get to see the beauty of His glory. In the new Jerusalem we will see Him face to face (Rev. 21).
The great sin of the world is not that the human race has failed to work for God so as to increase His glory, but that we have failed to delight in God so as to reflect his glory. For God’s glory is most reflected in us when we are most delighted in Him!
Dr. John Piper illustrates so articulately: “God has no deficiencies that I might be required to supply. He is complete in himself.  He is overflowing with happiness in the fellowship of the Trinity. The upshot of this is that God is a mountain spring, not a watering trough. A mountain spring is self-replenishing. It constantly overflows and supplies others.  But a watering trough needs to be filled with a pump or bucket brigade.  So if you want to glorify the worth of a watering trough you work hard to keep it full and useful.  But if you want to glorify the worth of a spring you do it by getting down on your hands and knees and  drinking to your heart’s satisfaction, until you have the refreshment and strength to go back down in the valley and tell people what you’ve found.
You do not glorify a mountain spring by dutifully hauling water up the path from the river below and dumping it in the spring.  What we have seen is that God is like a mountain spring, not a watering trough.  He is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him.
In other words, this unspeakably good news for helpless sinners — that God delights not when we offer him our strength — but when we wait for his this good news that I need to hear so badly again and again, is based firmly on a vision of God as sovereign, self-sufficient and free.  If we do not have this foundational vision of God in place when we ask how we can please him, it is almost certain that our efforts to please him win become subtle means of self-exaltation, and end in the oppressive bondage of legalistic strivings.  A lifelong hope in the overflowing grace of God to meet all our needs (“according to the riches of his glory!)simply will not stand without a deep foundation in the doctrine of the greatness and the glory of God.”
We urgently need to recapture the centrality of glorifying God in our lives and work. Too much of what passes for evangelical Christianity in America is man-centered or even self-centered for the glory ourselves and not the glory of God.
Open up the gates and let the King of glory come in
Fill the whole earth with praises as we lift our hands and worship You
Open up the doors and let Your glory fill the earth!
