The whole Bible, every book, every chapter and every verse talks about someone who stood in the gap between Holy God and sinful man. That is Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He paid the price for standing in the gap, dying in place of sinners and making a way for reconciliation and salvation. Through out history God is seeking men and women who will stand in the gap (2 Chron: 16:9, 1 Sam: 16:7, Matt: 9:37-39).In the Gap between Sinners and God, between backsliders and God, between a nation and God, between a family and God, between ethnic tribe and God.  Look at some examples:-

1: Abraham- Gen: 18:23-34. In the gap for his cousin LOT.

2: Moses- Exod: 32:32 Psalm: 106: 23. In the gap for the nation of Israel.

3: Nehemiah – Neh: 1, 2. in the gap for the city of Jerusalem.

4: Esther –Esther 4: 13, 14. In the gap for the Hebrews.

5: Paul. Rom: 9:1-3, 10:1-3.  In the gap for the Jews.

Samuel, Gideon, John Welsh, Hudson Taylor, William Carey and Adoniram Judson are just few of the many examples of men standing in the gap. Thank God for the early missionaries that stood in gap that we may be saved. God is expecting you and me to stand in the gap.
